"What is the Golden State Gay Rodeo Association?"

The GSGRA was established to further the
growth and enjoyment of the western life-style, in the Golden State,
California. Encompassing every geographic region of California, GSGRA is
able to provide education and training in all aspects of rodeo
production and operation. In support of our community, the GSGRA has a
tradition of donating to those in need from the net proceeds of various
fund-raising events and our rodeos throughout the year. To date, the
Golden State Gay Rodeo Association has donated over $210,000 to
charities within the great state of California.
COWBOYS AND COWGIRLS

Something for everyone! The GSGRA is
dedicated to producing events and activities with something for everyone
to enjoy. While many of our events are centered around rodeos, everyone
in the community is encouraged to get involved...we are sure you will
find something to pique your interest.
...DANCE

The western community is known for their
love of two step, waltz, and swing, as well as square dancing and line
dancing. The GSGRA is an avid supporter of organized dance groups and
those who simply enjoy kicking up their heels to good country music.
Every rodeo produced in the GSGRA is committed to providing an
opportunity to attend dance parties, contests, exhibitions, and exciting
dance performances. Additionally, there is a California State Dance
Competition held each year which showcases the best in couples dancing,
line dancing and dance groups within the GSGRA. The winners of this
competition are eligible to compete at the International Gay Rodeo
Association Finals Dance contest to receive top honors in the
international rodeo dance circuit.
…ENTERTAINMENT

Looking for excellent country and western
entertainment? GSGRA is the place! A strong dedication is put forth in
order to provide an uplifting and cultural experience for everyone in
our community. The GSGRA includes a variety of entertainment at all of
our state rodeos, with some of the finest GLBT singers, performers,
dance groups, cloggers and more...
...ROYALTY

The GSGRA has a rich tradition in
selecting a team of individuals each year to represent California on the
International Rodeo Association circuit and to promote Gay Rodeo in
California. The winners each year are granted the titles of Mr. GSGRA,
Ms. GSGRA, Mister GSGRA and Miss GSGRA and go on to compete for the
International Gay Rodeo Association titles. The Royalty Team represents
our community and a positive image of the western life-style across the
state of California and the International Gay Rodeo circuit. The royalty
team participates in numerous activities throughout the year, making
Charity work, Fund-raising, and Community Outreach their top priorities.
Additionally, they serve as the fund-raising committee.
...CHAPTER ACTIVITIES

All of the chapters in the GSGRA are
active in their communities. Chapter activities include educational
seminars, rodeo event practice, social gatherings, and fund-raising
parties. Becoming involved in your local chapter is an excellent way to
meet people in your community with similar interests. Each chapter has
regularly scheduled meetings. Learning to produce, compete in, or
organize events can be a very exciting and rewarding experience.
...AND RODEO

When a rodeo is sanctioned by the Golden
State Gay Rodeo Association, that approval brings a guarantee of
professionalism, quality and fairness to all aspects of the sport!
The GSGRA boasts the most exciting and the largest rodeos on the IGRA
circuit. Producing rodeos at some of California’s premiere equestrian
facilities and resorts, the Golden State Gay Rodeo Association has
become a leader in innovative ideas and rodeo management throughout the
country.
All GSGRA rodeos are events produced
through the local efforts of each community, in order to benefit that
area. We strive to make everyone’s experiences meaningful and one in
which you will go away with good memories. From spectators to
competitors, and everyone in between...the GSGRA rodeos are a
culmination of people working together to provide a positive outlet for
good fun within the western community. Mark your calendar now and get
your tickets for the next GSGRA rodeo.
