Horse Contestants
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION
CAREFULLY.
The 2008 Coors Light San Diego Rodeo will be
returning to the Lakeside Rodeo Grounds. It is a
PRCA rodeo grounds and an excellent facility for
rodeo however it is not typically set up for
overnight horse events.
We are providing the following information to
help you decide whether or not to attend the
rodeo as a horse contestant. We plan to do our
best to make the horse contestants and your
animals comfortable during the weekend.
Stalls are available for check-in on Friday,
September 12, 2008 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. All
horses must be removed from the Lakeside Rodeo
Grounds by 11:00 am, Monday, September 15, 2008.
If you plan on arriving after the above check-in
times, you must make arrangements ahead of time.
NO EXCEPTIONS. Please call the Barn Manager or
Rodeo Director at 619-952-1008 to make special
arrangements.
There will be very limited parking for trailers
and contestants. Contestant vehicles will NOT be
immediately adjacent to the horse stall area. We
will provide tack cages in the horse stall area.
Depending on the number of horses that show up,
tack cages may have to be shared between two or
more contestants. You must bring your own
padlock in order to secure your tack cage.
The Rodeo Grounds has only ONE Arena. There is
no warm up arena on the grounds but a small area
near the entrance to the arena will be groomed
for warm up. As time permits, the Arena Director
may allow warm ups in the arena. The Arena
Director, with no guarantees, will solely make
this decision.
Overnight camping at the rodeo grounds is on a
limited availability. A limited number of RVs
may park at the Lakeside Rodeo Grounds for a fee
of $25 per night. There are NO hook-ups or
dumping facilities for RVs on the rodeo grounds.
If you are interested in parking your RV on the
grounds, please contact the rodeo director,
Chris Ginn at 619-952-1008.
For those that need or desire to have hookups,
there is RV camping at the nearby Santee Lakes
RV Park. The Santee Lakes RV Park is located
exactly 5.71 miles from the rodeo grounds. The
rates are approximately as follows:
$34 per night for standard site with full
hookups
$36 per night for deluxe site (pull thru instead
of back in)
$40 per night for Lakefront site
To reserve a site you must contact the park
directly. We have NOT reserved a group section,
but if you book immediately, there is the
possibility to book groups together. We suggest
you contact Santee Lakes with groups of
reservations in order to secure sites together.
Also, we recommend you ask for WILLOW LOOP which
we feel is the best area. The website is
www.santeelakes.com and the telephone number is
619-596-3141.

One stall for each contestant will be provided
free for the weekend. Additional stalls, if
available, will be available at a cost of $25.00
each for the weekend. The balance of your stall
fees are payable on arrival. CASH ONLY. Stall
fees must be paid before start of the Rodeo on
Saturday morning, or you will not be allowed to
compete. A cleaning deposit of $25.00 per stall
will be assessed during contestant registration.
If you clean your stall prior to departing your
cleaning deposit will be refunded, solely at the
discretion of the Barn Manager. This will be
strictly enforced.
The horse stalls will be temporary pipe stalls
set up under a covered/lighted area at the rodeo
grounds. The Lakeside Rodeo Grounds is not
usually set up for overnight horse events so the
amenities (wash racks, round pens, warm up
areas, etc.) do not exist. IF YOU HAVE ANY
QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS PRIOR TO BRINGING YOUR
HORSE, PLEASE CONTACT CHRIS GINN AT
619-977-4704.
No bedding or feed will be provided. Bedding and
feed can be purchased at JC Feed and Supply at
10027 Maine Avenue, Lakeside CA less than a mile
from the Rodeo Grounds. 619-952-1008.
All horses must have a current Health
Certificate dated within 30 days if traveling
from out of state.
Our intention is not to discourage anyone from
attending the 2008 COORS LIGHT SAN DIEGO RODEO.
However, we believe that providing you with as
much information regarding the setup and the
facilities available to you in advance will help
you to make an informed decision prior to
arriving in Lakeside. We have been fortunate in
years past to offer excellent horse facilities
at our previous rodeo venue and we are confident
that our decision to move to Lakeside is an
excellent decision affording us the opportunity
to produce a quality event. Your comfort and
safety at our event are critical to its success
and we hope you will decide to join us in
September.
Please do not hesitate to contact us for
additional information or with questions.
